We recognized that the digital landscape has become a system of exploitation rather than a frontier for connection. We are fighting back against the era of "enshittification"—a deliberate evolution where platforms lure in users only to abuse them and claw back all value for themselves.
Current social media platforms operate as massive extraction facilities that package and sell your data, location, and private conversations.
The integration of AI in social media creates a "Reverse Centaur" dynamic, subordinating the human to the machine in order to maximize time on device.
Mainstream algorithms purposefully promote outrage because anger generates more engagement than joy.
The Droplet Collective is for those who refuse to participate in an architecture of misery that concentrates wealth at the top by extracting joy and privacy from the bottom.

We are stepping off the machine to return to the original promise of the internet: a decentralized, human-scale tool for genuine connection. As a working group, we design, deploy, and maintain a digital sanctuary built on non-negotiable pillars:
AI-Free Architecture: Droplet does not use artificial intelligence to curate feeds, police thoughts, or manipulate dopamine receptors. We enforce chronological feeds so users remain in control of their consumption.
Privacy as a Baseline: We completely reject corporate data-harvesting and do not mine user lives to sell to third parties.
Algorithmic Transparency: Our integrated search engine (search.droplet.is) indexes the decentralized web without throttling results to serve advertisements.

DigitalOcean: We selected DigitalOcean as our primary infrastructure backbone, running on specialized high-performance droplets to avoid the bloat of generic cloud providers.
OpenSocial Protocol: We utilize this specification as a functional blueprint to build modular, multi-layered, and silo-free social structures.
Ubuntu Server: We rely on the gold standard for secure, stable Linux environments.
