House Rules for the Droplet Ecosystem
Welcome to Droplet. We’re building this space to be a functional, sovereign home for your work, your connections, and your search. To keep the gears turning smoothly, we ask everyone to follow a few simple, common-sense practices.
1. Keep Feed Clean
We operate on the principle of individual ownership and "When in Rome". You own your data, your node, and your identity—but with that comes the responsibility of obeying the law, and keeping your corner of the network in good repair. If your node starts causing issues (like flooding the search index with garbage or spamming / harassing other users), it harms the platform integrity for everyone else. Please don't be that neighbor.
2. Search With Purpose
Our platform is a shared utility. It’s meant to help you find what you need, not to be exploited for manipulative practices or to overwhelm others. If you’re using the tools here, use them in a way that contributes to the overall utility of the platform. We value helpful discovery over noise.
3. Keep the "Fediverse" Civil
Droplet is connected to a wider web of federated networks. When you interact with others, remember that how you act on our platform reflects on the whole community. Hostility is treated like a mechanical failure—it breaks the flow of interaction. If you’re here to disrupt or degrade the experience of others, this isn't the right space for you.
4. Own Your Impact
Everything you do here is a contribution to the whole. We don't have a massive team of moderators to police every corner. We rely on you to raise your hand—if you see someone violating these guidelines, it’s up to all of us to flag it, filter it, and keep the environment healthy.
5. Respect the Tools
We’re building this with a "do-it-yourself" ethos. If something breaks, fix it or report it. If you have an idea for a better way to do things, contribute it. Treat the platform with the same care you would a borrowed tool, and we’ll be able to grow this together for a long time.
